Newsletters

In the past, newsletters were the included in the job for the Secretary. Today, most clubs that have a newsletter appoint an Editor to oversee this task. If your clubs wants to have a newsletter, and there is no one to take on the role, then you can fulfill the duties until another person is found.

The first thing to decide is the publication schedule. It is very important to set a timeline and keep to that. Ideally, the newsletter should be distributed every month.

While the content and format of the newsletter is up to you, there are some basic guidelines that you should follow. The newsletter should be informal, contain all pertinent information, and be professional looking. The newsletter should cover some, if not all, of the following:

• Upcoming service activities

• Upcoming socials events

• Divisional, District, and International news

• Dues reminder

• Upcoming banquets and interclubs

• Club event calendar

• Upcoming major club events

• Filler (cartoons, clipart, quotes, jokes)

The recipients of the newsletter should be:

• Each Club Member

• Kiwanis and Faculty Advisors

• District Governor

• District Secretary

• Lieutenant Governor

• District Communications Officer

• International Trustees

• Potential Members, Alumni, etc.
